Discretionary Portfolio Management

Discretionary portfolio management means that Toron’s professionals make all investment decisions on your behalf based on their research, knowledge and experience. For some investors, it’s difficult to give up control, even if they’ve had limited success investing on their own. For others, giving decision-making authority to experts is a relief.

Although you don’t pick the stocks or when to buy or sell, you remain involved in discretionary portfolio management. We act within your set framework. Every Toron investment relationship begins with a full assessment of needs, goals, risk tolerance, current and future financial assets, and return requirements and expectations. This forms the basis of your Investment Policy Statement (IPS) and is reviewed and updated regularly. The IPS guides all decisions for your portfolio.

We start by determining the asset mix:

  • Based on the IPS, we agree on an optimal asset allocation that balances risk with return
  • Investments are then carefully invested in equities and bonds identified and researched by Toron
  • Our client portfolios are diversified globally, by industry and by market capitalization. This disciplined structure ensures returns are based on IPS criteria

Once the portfolio is structured and invested, we continuously monitor and adjust as market conditions change or rebalancing is needed. Clients can track their portfolios and account activity using My Toron.

We meet with our clients regularly to review results, their current portfolio and to revise their IPS if required.
